I'm going to try not to say things like "the room appears empty". Rather, I'll try to state things factually as they appear to your characters ("the room is empty"). Then it'll be up to you to decide if there's more to the situation than it initially appears.
Relatedly, I'll try to keep initial descriptions short to give you the major impression of a scene, person, etc. and you are free to ask questions as your character takes a deeper interest.
I'd like you to inform me about things that seem like inconsistencies in the game. Inconsistencies mean one of two things:
You don't have enough information for something to make sense.
I screwed something up.
If it's #1 it tells me that you're picking up on a mystery of the world.
#2 tells me that there's something I need to fix.
Of course, I might not tell you which it is.
For the most part, things only happen in the game if they are done during a session. Your characters can do things between episodes, but we'll sum that up at the beginning of the next session. There can be exceptions for things like fleshing out backstory and more sensitive scenes. If you're keeping secrets from another player so they don't have to worry about avoiding metagaming then we can speak privately for that, either during or between sessions.
That being said, I don't want to discourage anyone from talking to me or others about plans for the future or ideas between sessions. I love that stuff!
