The Norvelios corporation has been in business for more than 300 years. Originally working in heavy metals extraction near Wolf 359, Norvelios has been in several industries over the centuries from electronics manufacturing to waste disposal and even a brief period in the film industry.
Norvelios today deals mainly in construction of custom space habitation platforms. The company has fallen on hard times in recent years due to the recession. Other factors are the mismanagement and, if rumours are to be believed, embezzlement of company assets by the last few generations of company leadership. Exacerbating this was the recent completion of a pair of O'Neill cylinders intended for High Councilman Yanef that featured a hunting preserve in one cylinder and a luxuriously appointed palace and grounds on the other. Of course, due to the councilman's disgrace and bankruptcy the company never received the final payment for the, now completed, project. This turn of events happened to be a fortunate one for Norvelios. Because the cylinders were constructed near Sector LK96-51 the Norvelios corporation were well-positioned to take advantage of the new attention being directed to the sector. The corporation's engineering team was expecting a long vacation after having completed the station but was now strapping rockets to their work and retrofitting it for a new purpose en route. The cylinders arrived and the corporation renamed the platform to Space Station Timerius . They set it up as a trading hub and staging platform for expeditions into LK96-51.
Norvelios Scrip (or N-Scrip) is the company money for the Norvelios Corporation. It's accepted, along with credits, at all Norvelios operated stores and is the currency in which they pay their employees.
